WELCOME!
Italian Americans
:

The Sopranos
DVD
Season 2, Episode 19 entitled, The Happy Wanderer, featuring The Big Game, an all-night poker extravaganza for Tony's A-list, which includes Frank Sinatra, Jr. Big deal, right? Yeah, except Tony's old school pal, dumb Davey, wants in on the action. He gets some. Click here for clips, synopses and way too much trivia about a few competent American actors
.

Enough already? Go instead to Smokingsides.com, which actually tracks the amount and quality of noxious in- and exhales by actors in a number of shows. Here's a sample, no kidding:

Watching Too Much Television", Oct. 27, '02 Drea de Matteo
"Two scenes. First has a nice drag. Holds mostly in the other scene, but has one exhale.

Another compelling tracker:

The Obesity Myth
Why America's Obsession With Weight Is Hazardous To Your Health

Hardcover
By Paul Campos

More on the actual science of obesity, which corroborates Prof. Campos's findings.

A better book would have talked about The Sopranos, and how part of the uncanny realism of that show involves casting mildly "overweight" to extremely fat actors in most of the male and even a couple of the female roles, although the fashionably thin Mafia wives spend much of their day at the gym, while their fat husbands shovel in the manicotti between murders; and it would have mentioned Paulie Walnuts' great line when he sees two really fat made guys hanging out at the strip club ("Hey -- it's a commercial for a diet program: Before...and way before!"). A Taste of Honey
By Morgana King
CD Audio
Featuring The Lady Is a Tramp by Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart in the 1937 Broadway musical, Babes In Arms

Quote:
The Lady Is A Tramp

I get too hungry for dinner at eight
I like the theatre but never come late
I never bother with people I hate
That's why the lady is a tramp

I don't like crap games with Barons and Earls
Never go to Harlem to sport my ermine and pearls
Won't dish the dirt like the rest of the girls
That's why the lady is a tramp

I like the free fresh wind in my hair
Life without care
I'm broke, it's oke

Hates california is cold and is damp
That's why the lady is a tramp.

Many jazz greats have recorded this standard - Ella, Frank, Tony, Billie - but boys, this girl knew how to sing, and she sure did, with some of the greatest musicians of the day. Forget Mama Corleone and the acting bit parts that no doubt paid some bills. Close your eyes and listen. And don't play King alongside today's dull, untrained jazz divas. Trust us, they can't take the heat.

Babes In Arms

Goodfellas
